History and Profile

  • Establishment: GSL was established in 1957 by the Portuguese as "Estaleiros Navais de Goa" to build barges for the local mining industry.3 After the liberation of Goa in 1961, the shipyard was taken over by the Indian government and renamed Goa Shipyard Limited.4
